Hey y’all! Let me introduce myself! I’m Kylie Jo and I am a eating disorder survivor and overcomer! And I’ve had this pull on my heart to tell my story and to open up and make people more aware about NEDA ( https://www.nationaleatingdisorders.org/ ) and that in this generation it’s a serious hidden problem. So here i am, i’m going to be vulnerable and talk about my journey, have inspirational posts and other peoples stories and images along the way. Now with those who have or are going through ED or knows someone who has ED. Believe me when i say this, the one suffering, isn’t trying to be closed off to you or hurt you by their illness. It’s just seems easier at the time for people dealing with a mental illness of any kind to hide it from others, to build those walls and protect themselves from anymore hurt. Now I know by personal experience that it’s easier to lie when dealing with ED than to try to explain what’s going on, because there’s usually a lot going on in that person’s head and it’s hard to explain. This isn’t easy by any means to lie to loved ones and that hurts us well. It’s a constant battle, not one that you can just change overnight, so please give those dealing with ED your love and patience, and really let them know that you’re there for them if they need anything and you WONT JUDGE them. Now people who have gone through ED, want people to help and know others want to help as well but when someone is going through this it’s a hard place to just let someone into. It’s hard to understand why someone would feel good with starving themselves or purging or overeating or excessively healthy eating, etc. And in their minds it’s a constant debate as well, they want to look like the ideal beauty that society says you must be. The words of the world; you need this or you must be or have this, being a constant in there mind. It’s also a more hidden type of self control and a constant having a ED. For the one suffering it’s not fun or easy but it’s the norm and how they can control at least something in there lifes. So please be patient and love one another for how they were created and look like. Because each person in this world is created wonderfully and beautifully unique in the eyes of Christ and their story and their body is perfect and just the way it shall be. You never truly know what someone is going through and there is so many different versions of ED and stories. So love one another, choose self-love and be the light!!
